PROJECT BACKGROUND

Project background

This project aims to upgrade the comprehensive warehousing and distribution center of a well-known pharmacy, a key hub supporting its nationwide store distribution and e-commerce shipments. This automation upgrade focuses primarily on two core areas: the second-floor drug repackaging storage area and the fifth-floor traditional Chinese medicine packaged storage area. To improve operational efficiency and accuracy, we introduced an advanced intelligent inbound/outbound solution combining bin robots and unloading machines.

Project Pain Points

Low efficiency of manual sorting: Traditional manual sorting methods struggle to meet the increasing order volume and multi-SKU management needs.

Insufficient storage space utilization: Existing storage methods fail to fully utilize the warehouse's vertical space, limiting storage capacity.

High picking error rate: Manual operation easily leads to picking errors, affecting delivery accuracy and customer satisfaction.

Labor cost pressure: Warehouse operations heavily rely on manpower, resulting in continuously rising operating costs.

Operating environment challenges: Drugs have high requirements for storage environment and operating procedures, making it difficult for manual operation to consistently meet standards.

Solution

Intelligent Robot Cluster: Deploy 24 A42-type bin robots for precise storage, retrieval, and handling of pharmaceuticals.

Efficient Charging Guarantee: Equipped with 7 HaiRobot robot charging stations to ensure 24/7 uninterrupted robot operation.

Integrated Workstations: Establish 7 loading and unloading workstations to achieve rapid bin entry and efficient bin exit.

Optimized Storage Architecture: Utilize 4200mm high racks to maximize the warehouse’s vertical storage capacity.

Standardized Bins: Adopt standard 600mm (L) x 400mm (W) x 300mm (H) bins to improve system compatibility and operational efficiency.

Customer Value

Double Storage Density: Successfully provided 13,080 storage locations within a 1,600㎡ warehouse area, significantly improving space utilization.

Significantly Improved Outbound Efficiency: Outbound efficiency reaches up to 375 boxes/hour, significantly shortening order processing and delivery time.

Significant reduction in labor costs: Phase I of the project is expected to save 15 operators.

Phase II is expected to save an additional 24 operators.

A total of 39 operators will be saved, greatly reducing labor costs and recruitment management pressure.
